March Madness in Chicago

SU Band in ChicagoSyracuse University turned Chicago Orange in late March as the city hosted the NCAA Tournament Men’s Midwest Regional. About 4,000 SU alumni call the Chicago area home—including Syracuse University Alumni Association Board President Mark Verone—and it was a great opportunity for them to show their school spirit in cheering on the team.

“A special thank you goes out to the Syracuse University Alumni Club of Chicago, under the leadership of Shana Segbers ’12, G’13 and Amy Peters ‘05, for joining with the Office of Alumni Engagement to host several men’s pre-game and women’s game watch events,” says Sue Ballard, associate vice president of alumni engagement.

The alumni club enjoys a close partnership with Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Chicago, and the restaurant rolled out the orange carpet for alumni and fans. “It’s fitting that the original Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is in Syracuse, and the club has made the Chicago location their home,” Ballard says. To add to the festivities, the Sour Sitrus Society, Syracuse Cheer, and Otto stopped by to entertain before the games.
