Support Chicago’s first experiential learning program!
Data is a foundational element within today’s business landscape. Harnessing the power of data is a critical skill set that allows companies and organizations to make sound decisions, and equipping Syracuse University students with these skills puts them in high demand for internship and job opportunities.
For this reason, the iSchool has designed Data by the Lake, an enhanced applied data science course that brings Syracuse students to Chicago for an unforgettable learning experience—and through the new ’CuseFunder crowdfunding website, Chicago alumni and friends can help make the trip possible for 16 of the University’s brightest students!“Data by the Lake” combines a semester-long course with a week-long visit to Chicago, where students will gain insight on real-world data challenges—visiting nearly a dozen organizations and working with two partner companies on specific problems they’re looking to solve. The class will experience Chicago culture, meet Syracuse University alumni, and mingle with company leaders.
After the trip, students will finish the semester on campus with seven more weeks addressing the data challenges presented in Chicago and devising elegant solutions for the partner companies. Like its predecessors, Spring Break in Silicon Valley and EntreTech NYC, this extended engagement program could lead to internships and potential employment opportunities with some of Chicago’s leading firms.
Data by the Lake is an iSchool immersion experience like no other, and the first experiential learning initiative for Syracuse University in Chicago. Be a part of it! Visit our ’CuseFunder site today, and show your support!
