Celebrating a special SU birthday

National Orange Day

On March 24, Syracuse University celebrated its 144th birthday! Because “44” is such a significant part of our history, alumni and friends around the world have been honoring that tradition with special birthday celebrations around National Orange Day, and Chicago was no exception.

The SU Alumni Club of Chicago celebrated with a dinner for local alumni and friends at Pops for Champagne on March 13, and hosted a game watch at Beer Bistro North the following day.

“National Orange Day is always special for SU fans, but we couldn’t let this milestone year go by without really celebrating,” says David Wishart ’07, director of regional advancement and a member of the planning committee for the festivities. “It’s been wonderful to see alumni and friends around the country get involved and share their memories, and it’s a great reminder of the Orange bond that connects all of us.”

The Chicago events were among more than 30 others held nationwide. See photos from the on-campus celebration. The whole SU community was able to follow #CelebrateSU on Twitter, visit a special celebration website with stories, photos—and videos, and alumni and friends were encouraged to create their own short videos about SU’s impact on their lives and upload them to YouTube.
